Mission Statement
The mission of the Lucio Middle School Library program is to ensure that students, teachers, administrators, and staff are efficient and effective users of ideas and information. This mission is accomplished by providing intellectual and physical access to materials in print and electronic format; promoting literacy and creating information literate users and by providing curriculum support for all content areas of instruction.
In order to accomplish our mission, LMS Library is dedicated to providing a well rounded, culturally diverse and relevant collection of resources in both print and digital formats.
Library Hours
Students are welcome to use the library facilities to enhance their education by reading, checking out books, conducting research, completing projects and utilizing the computers.
The library is open Monday – Friday 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Hours are subject to change due to meetings, testing, etc.
Library Rules for Students
1. Be courteous and polite to all students, staff and visitors in the library. Remember this is your library. It is expected that you help keep the library neat and clean by returning all library items to their proper place.
2. Two books can be checked out at a time for a two week period. All other materials such as magazines and reference materials will vary in circulation time. All students will be given notice when materials are due.
3. Students must have an ID to check out materials. *As a courtesy, materials will be checked out to students who forgot their ID a maximum of three times. *
4. Students must have an ID with Internet Parental Permission Form on file in order to access the internet.
5. Do not take materials from the library without first checking it out at the circulation desk.
6. Appropriate internet use is expected at all times.
7. Students found violating the AUP and/or violating the rules in the student handbook may be sent directly to the office if the infraction is severe enough.

Visiting the Library
1. Open-door policy for students before school and after school.
2. During lunch time depending on room availability.
3. During class time with a pass from a teacher.
4. Library passes from substitute teachers are not accepted unless he/she is a permanent substitute.
5. Library closed during lunch periods if a class is in session.
Overdue Fees for Students
Books: 5 cents/day
Lost or Damaged Library Material
Library patrons must pay for lost or damaged books checked out under their name. Damage fees depend on condition of book or item. All patrons are responsible for their items.
General Library Charges
Xerox Machine—10 cents
All computer printouts must be approved by library staff BEFORE printing.
Computer Printouts— Free when it is an assignment/project for school.
Computer Printouts—.10 cents for black and white / .50 cents for color for personal printing
School IDs
All students at Lucio Middle School are expected to have a school ID. The first school ID is free to all Lucio M.S. students. IDs will be taken during library orientation. IDs may also be taken Tuesdays and Thursdays before school, after school or during class with a teacher pass. The school ID is required for check outs and internet usage and may be needed for other school functions/activities. Replacement cost for an ID is $3.00.

Copyright Restrictions: The copyright law of the United State (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of “fair use,” that user may be liable for copyright infringement.
